BREAKING: New legislation to regulate encampments has been drafted by @fordnation.
This legislation represents some of the most excessive overreach by the province — or any government — that I have ever seen in Canada.
It will force municipalities to create an emergency management plan that aligns with provincial priorities to remove encampments — and any Mayor or Council that does not comply will be in contravention of the law.
It also legislates the defunding for any Ministry-funded entities, i.e., non-profits, that do not comply with orders — meaning non-profits will be forced into complying with or facilitating encampment evictions, or else lose their funding.
It also entails a $5,000 fine for any individual who does not comply with the law.

This legislation will facilitate a race to the bottom.
After 18 months of calling for lowering immigration (read: deportation) to allow the 'economy' to catch up. Banks are now warning that cuts will hurt the 'economy'. Their solution - cut public services. This was never about the affordability crisis. Xenophobia used to distract us
Bill 223 has passed on a voice vote. I was the only person in the public galleries to witness it. Not once did @fordnation debate Schedule 4 of the Bill, which will shut down supervised consumption sites. People will die.
🚨PRESS CONFERENCE. Why is the Ministry of Education Funding Pro-Israel Organizations w/Histories of Surveilling & Suppressing Students in Our Public Schools? $550K is better spent on trainings that foster understanding & inclusivity, not indoctrination. Live @WBWCanada 9am Nov28

We are concerned @OCDSB@SRB_news seems to be apologizing for the existence of an "Arabic song" after @MacLeodLisa claimed it "distressed all the Jewish students".
This is the song: https://t.co/f4QvgTxMSf
If the existence of Arabs causes distress, that's called racism.

In the West, Israel and Israelis can never be in the wrong.
In Palestine Israeli officials, soldiers and settlers commit crimes against, blame, and smear Palestinians; elsewhere they may provoke, incite, and vandalise and still get a free pass for every act of violence they commit or hide. Still, it is "other" communities into which they come who are blamed, smeared and arrested.
The Amsterdam Police has set the record straight. The media needs to follow suit. To do otherwise is to dangerously gut antisemitism of any meaning, distort the facts, deresponsabilize Israel and Israelis and deny any possibility of accountability.
Let's start with the basics: This is a terrifying moment for a great many people, esp those whose rights are directly in the line of fire. At the same time, for a great many more people, the worst possible violence and tragedy was already happening under a Dem administration 1/5
We don't need to share the same politics to want to see less encampments. But there's only one solution to homelessness: housing. @fordnation would rather remove homeless people's Charter rights than do his job to address the housing crisis. Sign & share: https://t.co/PpFHkgdsD3
