Reports circulating on social media about my imminent return to South Sudan are totally unfounded. I have no plans whatsoever at this point in time to go back to the country. Due to the absence of political space, that would neither be feasible nor safe for my personal well being
Troops loyal to #SouthSudan🇸🇸’s unelected @PresSalva surround home of unelected VP @Drriekmachar & arrest his allies after a militia linked to them overran a northern army base — shortly after the whole bunch extended their terms. Time for #USA🇺🇲 rethink? https://t.co/PvwQJ0tRJF
The appointment of Dr. B Bol Mel as Vice President 4 the Economic Cluster introduces a new chapter in S. Sudan’s political landscape & could pave the way for his eventual presidency, despite his ascension circumventing the traditional party norms. @awolich shared his opinion
@WaniMichael57 What? What is going on Dr. Akec? Is your account hacked? You have been pushing for elections even without the constitution. What a U turn.
@WaniMichael57 We are definitely a psychologically poor country and more so, a leadership deprived people. Elections are not a priority, the priority is the unity of the people, an end to violence, and an end to political uncertainty, and an end to misalignment of resources and priorities.
@RadioTamazuj Indeed Ambassador Adler, the shared human values start with peace and respect for people and their rights. The unfortunate truth is that President Kiir’s system cannot give birth to these values. It has genetically mutated and it has become a dictatorial species.
