Absolutely true. I had a printer and it came with a 6 month free trial. I think I went through a couple of cartridges and got refills in the mail. Then the subscription ran out and even though I just got a full cartridge I couldn't print.

The solution was just to get new cartridges, but it's silly to have to do that.
