algoritma media sosial tau gue suka video kucing, makanan, dan orang renovasi rumah.

yang belum dia pahami cuma satu: gue nonton renovasi rumah bukan berarti gue punya uang buat renovasi rumah.

perusahaan pakai istilah “keluarga besar” buat karyawan.

tapi begitu karyawan mau cuti, mendadak semua harus mengikuti prosedur administrasi yang bahkan keluarga kerajaan belum tentu punya.

kenapa gak langsung nanya:

“masih jadi manusia atau udah jadi cicilan berjalan?”

on april 28, 1944, an allied rehearsal for d-day turned into a real disaster.

german torpedo boats attacked convoy t-4 off the english coast. two american landing ships were sunk. hundreds of servicemen died, many in the cold water.

but the attack exposed a problem beyond the enemy's weapons.

one escort had not been properly replaced after being damaged. warnings were spotted, but the landing ships and escort were operating on different radio frequencies. the ships that needed the warning could not hear it.

the convoy was also left with dangerously limited protection.

this was exercise tiger, a rehearsal for the landings at utah beach. the allies were preparing to cross the channel under fire, yet their own coordination had already failed in the waters they were supposed to control.

the lesson wasn't that rehearsals were pointless. it was that a plan could look ready while the people carrying it out were working with different information.

five weeks later, the invasion of normandy began.

setarakan dirimu, terlalu banyak menuntut tanpa memberikan timbal balik juga menyengsarakan.
belajarlah membatasi diri, sebab hubungan yang sehat tidak seharusnya membuat satu pihak terus memberi sementara pihak lainnya hanya menerima.

TESLA REALLY JUST MADE A CAR THAT FLIES.

the yellow traffic light exists for a simple reason: telling people to stop or go isn't always enough.

in 1923, inventor garrett morgan patented a three-position traffic signal. unlike basic stop-and-go systems, his design included a position that stopped traffic in every direction before allowing the next movement.

that pause mattered. vehicles already inside an intersection needed time to clear it before cross traffic moved.

morgan was also a black entrepreneur working in an era of widespread racial discrimination. he built businesses, developed safety equipment, and found ways to get his inventions taken seriously.

sometimes the most useful invention isn't a faster machine. it's a moment to prevent two things from colliding.

the first message sent over arpanet was supposed to be "login."

on october 29, 1969, a team at ucla tried to connect its computer to one at stanford research institute. student programmer charley kline began typing the command.

the system received "l" and then "o."

when he typed the next letter, the system crashed.

so the first message across the network that would help lead to today's internet was simply "lo."

the researchers fixed the problem and completed the login later that evening. a global communication system began with a failed attempt to type five letters.

the fax machine is older than the telephone.

in 1843, scottish inventor alexander bain patented an electric printing telegraph that could transmit images. his design used a scanning mechanism to reproduce graphic marks at a distance.

the technology was primitive, and it took decades of further work before fax transmission became practical.

but the idea was already there: information didn't have to travel as words or dots and dashes. an image itself could be sent through an electrical system.

the future sometimes arrives in a form nobody is ready to use yet.

in 1908, a woman entered the british house of commons when women weren't allowed to sit as elected members.

margaret travers-symons broke away from her escort, entered the debating chamber, and called on lawmakers to pay attention to women's rights.

an attendant carried her out.

she wasn't the first woman elected to parliament. she was an early reminder that the fight for political representation was happening even inside rooms designed to keep women out.

your phone doesn't actually photograph your fingerprint every time you unlock it.

many under-display fingerprint sensors use light to capture the ridges of your finger, while others use ultrasonic waves to map its surface.

the same little area of glass can hide two completely different ways of recognizing you.

in 1518, people in strasbourg reportedly started dancing in the streets and couldn't seem to stop.

some kept dancing for days. the event became known as the dancing plague.

historians still debate what caused it. mass psychological distress is one explanation, but the exact reason remains uncertain.

imagine trying to explain to the authorities that the problem is an entire town dancing uncontrollably.
