@dhh GitHub is honestly a bit embarrassing.
For the platform everyone goes to, and one that's been around so long… basic things should be snappy. There is no excuse.
Eh. I didn't expect to see the day I'd agree with that stance.
I have been a GitHub user for years and have advocated for it countless times.
But after seeing so many issues, and technical problems that shouldn't exist on a platform of this scale (e.g. slow loading and sluggish issues/PRs), it is getting harder to defend.
Things have to be snappy, there is no excuse.
@Pragmatic_Eng@kelseyhightower Awesome episode! @GergelyOrosz you are doing a great job.
Kelsey is such a cool and knowledgeable person, you can feel that aura even through the screen. Lots of wisdom to learn from.
Yeah, it's sad. I used the Pro+ Copilot plan for the last year, the annual one. It was a nice tool.
I just can't believe that they are talking so much about the app but not discussing the tokens issue at all? Or maybe I am missing it..
Also, it was cancelled for me (auto expiry at end of May), I tried to reach out if I can renew it, and opened a ticket, I didn't even get any feedback, which is also quite disappointing. Altho, I think at this point, I wouldn't renew.
@ChetHusk@DamianEdwards Nice! This is happening with .NET 11? Is there any more details available somewhere? GitHub? I would love to try to help, if there is any help needed & wanted.
@DamianEdwards Is there anything in .NET 11 that makes dotnet build and dotnet run somewhat faster? It kinda feels slow considering the specs of the machine where it runs. On all 3 major OSes.
The current AI panic feels strange to me.
AI, as it exists today, is a set of numbers in a file that can do interesting and useful things. It’s a tool. A very powerful one, but still a tool. We’re far from conscious machines or AI replacing all human work.
It’s also useful to look at the data. E.g., software roles are still increasing, and so are PM jobs.
@amix3k "It’s a tool. A very powerful one, but still a tool. We’re far from conscious machines or AI replacing all human work"
That is exactly it.
Lots of folks are thinking we reached some kind of conscious machine level, and everything is going to shit.
@addyosmani@lxfater Anything from Addy is usually gold. Didn't know about this :)
Since I use agents all the time like a maniac, this might be quite useful.
Thanks.
@mkristensen What about git commit message generator - full featured and working properly, like it does in VS Code?
Right now it is SLOW, and doesn't produce as good as results as the VS Code.
