Earlier today, I visited the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Kusala Dam, Karaye, Kano State to strengthen partnerships in advancing our environmental sustainability agenda. The purpose of this engagement was to formalize the establishment of the Climate Change Community Development Service (CDS) Group, a platform designed to integrate corps members into Kano’s climate resilience efforts.

I am pleased to announce that the State NYSC Coordinator, approved this initiative. The Climate Change CDS Group will focus on tree planting, waste management, community sensitization, and supporting the implementation of the Kano State Climate Change Policy of His Excellency Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf @Kyusufabba. I assured the State Coordinator of our ministry’s commitment to fully utilize corps members’ skills in these critical programs, ensuring their service year contributes meaningfully to environmental protection.

Following the camp engagement, on our way back, we stopped at the 3 Brigade Nigerian Army, Bukavu Barracks, to commend Brigadier General AM Tukur and his team for their exemplary role in organizing the recent cleaning exercise within the barracks.

We remain steadfast in mobilizing all stakeholders to combat desertification, pollution, and climate vulnerability. Together, we will build a sustainable future for our state.

Hosted the mgt staff of Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano led by its VC Prof. Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa in my office during the week.
The VC has sought for intervention which I promised to connect them to relevant donor agencies.
I am glad their college of Agric will soon be active.
