Today’s conversation about morally ambiguous characters in Kings in Disguise was really insightful, but I think certain traits outweigh others and can define one’s character, like being a racist or someone who preys on children #ENGL157

Kings in Disguise really showed how quickly life can change for people and I was able to draw connections between it and the current pandemic #ENGL157

The first half of the Kings in Disguise series was very interesting. Before I started reading it, I was curious about what the title meant. I’m glad I found out in the first issue #ENGL157

I really loved the art in Persepolis. It reminded me of some shows and books I watched/read as a kid. All of the books we’ve read so far have been so artistically different and it’s been super cool to see the range #ENGL157

Very excited to read Persepolis, yet another book on this semester’s list that deals with real life events. I feel like I’m learning more about history in this class via the comic book genre than I did in high school #ENGL157

Really enjoyed both books of the two-part Maus series. Hard to get through because of the subject matter, but I think that’s exactly why they need to be read. It’s like the quote that goes something like “the hardest conversations are the ones worth having” #ENGL157

This tweet didn’t go through yesterday, but I was gonna say that I really appreciate the diversity of the comics we’ve read/are gonna read in this class this semester! All of them have been so unique, but have all really demonstrated how great the genre of comics is #ENGL157

In addition to being thematically heart wrenching, Maus is very visually striking. The use of harsh lines and dark backgrounds evoke the sense of grittiness and feelings of entrapment really well #ENGL157

It’s fascinating how the structuring and layout of comic panels and pages can depict such strong messages and evoke specific emotions out of the reader #ENGL157
