Greatly appreciated the opportunity to talk about AV safety and ideas I've been developing with @PeterCBigelow@Automotive_News. Even as competition intensifies to develop AVs, hopeful that industry can converge on common approaches for measuring safety. https://t.co/18JSXuhrPy
@DBashIdeas@GilStudent@Eli_Rubin Discussed at length in the 1994 book "The Physics of Immortality" by physicist Frank Tipler. I wrote an essay for YU's Imrei Shefer whether incorporeal Techiyas Hameisim is heretical. Seems so, but can find some isolated sources in support. @DBashIdeas

@kyzcralotSxaM If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore; and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God which had been shown!

@binarybits If you can listen for an hour, this talk by Harvard Law Professor Noah Feldman will give the full context and legal theory debate related to this topic: https://t.co/XEOUK5RTjV
Enjoy this week's Lehrhaus over Shabbat for Parshat Ki Tisa, featuring pieces by Benjamin Guggenheim and @aybinnun

Shabbat Shalom!
@Delta just had a terrible experience on phone. Needed to call to apply gift card to minor reservation. Agent kept placing on hold for 20-30 minutes at a time, and then after two hours, agent accidentally ended call just before transaction completed. Any way I can avoid a repeat?
Unlike human drivers, AV developers invest incredible thought and analysis into driving decisions. What does it mean for society when many vehicles on the road follow the same driving behavior? My team at @motionaldrive addresses this in a new publication: https://t.co/gisg9ugXc7
@Jackstilgoe Thank you for working with us on this article. It's been rewarding to think through the positive implications and challenges of designing a driver. Particularly, its been really interesting to think through how designing AV behavior interacts with traffic laws.
I'm excited by this latest paper in our Politics of Autonomous Vehicles collection. Researchers from @motionaldrive ask - in both engineering and policy terms - what it means to design a driver. https://t.co/VqMndVMKF6. The potential implications for road rules are fascinating.
@Jeopardy My six year old son lives, eats, and breathes #Jeopardy. @mattearoach is his favorite person in history, with @KenJennings not far behind :). Any chance you will be doing tapings with live audiences again soon?
I would love some expert insight as to why we do not seem to be approaching herd immunity. Where do my assumptions (or conclusions) break down? @eli_sprecher @alexismadrigal@zeynep@ProfEmilyOster
Would love input on something that's been puzzling me (thread)
CDC estimates that only 1 in 4 COVID cases is reported. Since 48 million cases have been reported, implies there have been ~192 million cases or 58% of US population. Conservatively, 50% of the US has had COVID.
In total, ~85% of the population, maybe more, have significant immunity to COVID. How do we square this reality with case trajectories)? Will cases collapse (Omicron aside) once another ~5% of the population is infected or vaccinated (reaching 90% of population with immunity)?
