Sometimes I sit down and wonder: how much time does booking a flight or reserving a table actually take?
5–10 minutes? And honestly, my 5 minutes aren't that valuable.
I still really get the personal assistant thesis; having something that can just take care of things for you is incredibly compelling.
But the closer an AI gets to your immediate personal context, the more trust and privacy start to matter. And if mobile/computer-use agents keep getting better, that could also be a bear case for pure consumer AI more broadly.
I have the same worries around how deterministic agentic payments can/need to be.
I'd be pretty elated to be wrong, though. The vision is hard not to admire!
Instinct CEO Noah Shinn says an agent could check every restaurant in the world for a table every five seconds and predicts the internet will be rewritten in the coming years
"Although I'll be clear, I do think that in the coming years, I think the internet's going to be rewritten. I think that the way that most people on the planet interact with software is going to be very, very different."
"To break it down, though, I think in the short and medium term, famously, maybe reservations is one where, like booking a reservation."
"So historically, how is that done? Well, the human has to go on to the site and to go to whatever restaurant that they care about and then click through the site and then put their two people, this time, and try to get it right and then if they don't get it they're just too late and it's first come first serve."
"But then now when you have an agent you can theoretically just have the agent check every five seconds not just across that one restaurant that you really care about that's your favorite restaurant you can't get in."
"Sure that's one case right but what if it's doing that across every site in the world for every restaurant in the world in every major city. Right. And now you can see how the agent is able to exploit just something simple, like restaurant reservations."
I've spent enough time with @_lalithsuresh and the @felderainc team to realize that they're building something exceptional! Real-time use cases are booming and a lot of underlying infra will be re-written and transformed.
Conviction is thesis.

The number of tools stating "Written in Rust" is getting a bit too much. It doesn't automatically become a better version of X if it's Rust-based.
Right approach and right use case.
For the longest time, VCs said hardware wasn’t a great venture bet.
Then compute, robotics, defense, energy, and better access to debt and asset financing changed the equation.
Now everyone wants a seat.
Maybe it’s okay to admit we’re not always as forward-looking as we think.
@freethinkerhtml I'll send you the report, but back then the slump in retention and the increase in pricing post COVID made the numbers imbalanced. Excess R&D (for what) and huge SBC was also a culprit I guess
Still thinking about the short pitch I wanted to post on $MNDY back in mid-2024: massively underestimating CAC, basically zero switching costs, and bad retention rates
All I needed was a margin account and the insight to coin “SaaSocalypse.”
Could've been "The Medium Short"
Amongst all chatter about $MU, $SNDK and $PLTR. I would just like to say that I love Tobey Maguire and Spider Man 2 is easily the greatest superhero film ever made.
