A colleague has a 4 y/o who is intubated due to COVID and asked us, a group of physician friends, how to tell the 6 y/o their sibling may not come home. This is what happens when you leave masks up to parent choice - this child wore TWO masks, other kids didn’t.
We told you this would happen. The mass exodus of nursing staff came in waves, month after month. Now this sudden, debilitating, exponential growth of sick people needing care in our communities, & they have no one. YOU didn’t listen, YOU thought travel rates would “normalize.”
@DrNurseGuy You are clearly educated and have higher health literacy than many others. How do you think this looks for people who have no healthcare knowledge? They go straight to Google. Perhaps the best way is to find out how people individually want to hear results.
Patients should not be reading devastating results alone. As I nurse- I always made sure to be in the room with the doc so I could stay after the news was given just to help them cope and process. They need support in that very moment. #NurseTwitter
Called a patient today to tell them their colonoscopy biopsies showed cancer. Patient already knew—got an automated alert earlier in the day and read the results on the online medical record. At home, alone.
This new law granting access to test results is a BIG problem.
@brealeigha So since we are all patients at one time or another- perhaps it boils down to personal preference. As a nurse- you can understand so much more than the average person who is probably going straight to Google. That’s unfair to those with poor health literacy.
Now that the Year of the Nurse is over- does that mean we get a vacation anytime soon? I think people finally get what we do. #NurseTwitter#NurseLife#exhausted#Bye2020
@shondarhimes I can’t thank you enough. People seem unphased by our stories now- but I pray people will take note of how your portray what it’s like on the #frontlines in @GreysABC And an even deeper #gratitude for talking about health inequities. ❤️ from a hopeful #nurse
Thank you for listening @JoeBiden @Transition46 @KamalaHarris . The voice of a nurse is so important. Thank you for helping us #elevate#nursing https://t.co/hvbW2s7CCW
@dougducey It’s a tragedy to have you and @drcarachrist in leadership. You can’t just hope people will behave better and wear masks. We need policy. We need enforcement. You know the evidence. Stop preaching education and hold people accountable instead!
Faith & hope won’t help people make better decisions about behaviors (social distancing or #mask wearing) @dougducey but #policy will. Thankfully local policies enforced mask wearing when you couldn’t make it happen. It’s still not enough & you continue to do nothing #Covid_19
To find out how likely you are to encounter a coronavirus-infected person at a friend’s party, you simply open the tool, move the slider to the number of people you expect to attend, then hover your cursor over the county where the event will take place. https://t.co/FmizcMJkQy
