@solilowhat@default_friend Join something like a book club. Kids are talked about as well as jobs but it’s not the main topic. It’s very refreshing. But choose wisely, I’m the only woman in mine and we stick to classics.
@abemurray@sweatystartup@TRUmav I took part in one of these projects, 5 months in Africa. Even visiting the Canadian embassy and what you say is 100% correct. It was only valuable for me. It probably gave me the opposite message that the ngo wanted me to have lol. International aid is a bad idea long term.
@gman27075@Empty_America Asian women make more than white men in the US…more education is the reason but it means they are outperforming most men with the exception of Asian men.
@WilmoreStandard@simonsarris My parents didn’t go to uni but wanted all four of us to go. They thought it was a ticket to a stable career/life. My dad’s other advice was “the real money is made working overtime” haha. Classic working class labourer mindset which isn’t entirely wrong.
@quachelsey The options aren’t great so I felt like I had to go old school. I remember going to a hall basement to be babysat while my mom did aerobics upstairs. The 90s were the way.
@quachelsey I’m too rural for a close enough gym (and dh works 24 days in a row a lot) so I asked my local community hall board if I could use it to workout. We meet once a week, kids are welcome and it’s free. It’s been great, it helps me focus for the rest of the week.
@MrsRiggsy@clhubes Mine did because I wasn’t sitting in the “right” spot on the couch. They want control and it can reach crazy weird levels lol. And no I did not move to accommodate his desire.
@Armygirl67@clhubes We don’t do screens, yet older people (grandparent age) ask what’s wrong w him if he’s having a meltdown. I tell them he’s two and it’s normal. I think people truly forget how much they can fuss and for seemingly no reason.
@l0gicth0t If you look at the data from the study there wasn’t a statistical difference in securing housing between the group given $50 and the one given $1000…
