On the 2nd of Muharram, 61 AH, Imam al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī (عليه السلام) arrived at the land of Karbala.

Imam Ḥusayn said:
“This is the place of karb (grief) and balāʾ (trial). This is where our blood will be spilled.”
