New Poll: Americans Strongly Support School Choice, Will Vote Accordingly
Americans of all parties and backgrounds overwhelmingly support school choice – and will vote accordingly. A new national poll from 3D Strategic Research, which surveyed 1,000 registered voters from September 6-11, 2025, found that 73% of voters believe school choice should be open to all families and only 20% would vote for an anti-school choice candidate over a pro-school choice candidate for state legislature. Voters across ideological spectrums also strongly support the new federal school choice tax credit, with support strengthening the more they learn about it. These results confirm that the school choice era is here to stay, as the issue remains a clear litmus test for American voters.

“Every state will have school choice soon, and as these results show, that can’t happen soon enough. Parents are the interest group to which politicians at all levels must respond or face political consequences. As the latest scores from the Nation’s Report Card prove, our nation’s education system is in an undeclared state of emergency and in desperate need of meaningful competition and ways out for students who need it. Thanks to the new federal scholarship tax credit signed into law in July, every state has the opportunity to expand school choice, and governors should act swiftly to opt in as soon as possible.”
Details:
73% of voters believe school choice should be open to all families, including 55% who say it should be open to all regardless of income or geography.

In a head-to-head race for the state legislature, a majority of voters (57%) would vote for the school choice candidate, while just 20% would vote for the anti-school choice candidate.

Initial support for the federal tax credit is 58% among voters (and 66% among parents) and it grows to 64% support among voters after they hear more details.

Nearly two-thirds (64%) of voters favor states opting into the federal tax credit, compared to 18% who oppose states opting in. After hearing opposition arguments, these opinions remain strongly in favor of opting in.

70% of Republicans, 60% of Independents, and 58% of Democrats favor their state participating. 53% of Democratic primary voters back their state opting in.
