Token Narrative:Dogecoin is not actually the first memecoin — NEU is the real first memecoin.

Around 2013, Jackson Palmer, one of the co-founders of Dogecoin, initially conceived a squirrel-themed memecoin called NEU. The collaborating developer was Maël (the token community is currently trying to contact him and plans to cover donation costs).

However, the other co-founder of Dogecoin moved first, quickly launching Dogecoin using a similar idea. After Dogecoin became hugely popular, the community "attacked Neucoin with full force," suppressing the project. Jackson Palmer was isolated, forced to remain anonymous, and eventually left the crypto space entirely. Maël was also marginalized.

Some people said that Neucoin was essentially just a fork of PeerCoin with a few parameters tweaked.

On one occasion, the NeuCoin team wanted to airdrop NeuCoin to Dogecoin holders and asked the community for feedback.

That said, NEU is very creative, combining elements of nostalgia, conspiracy, and revival — which makes it easy for it to spread virally. But the actual history and truth are probably impossible to verify at this point. So let's just enjoy the moment.
