The upper class: keeps all of the money, pays none of the taxes. The middle class: pays all of the taxes, does all of the work. The poor are there...just to scare the shit out of the middle class.... Keep em showing up to those jobs
Not many years ago, BEST was an exemplary bus system. But in just 10 years it has been reduced to shambles.
It is time to reclaim our right to affordable public transport, and through it, our right to the city. Here are AMAB's demands to make BEST work again for common citizens:
Air pollution is NOT a Delhi issue
Kejriwal couldn’t solve it, neither can Rekha Gupta because area wise, Delhi is less than 2% of North India.
- Stubble burning is happening in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh
- Coal power plants are operating, violating international standards in all these states
- Industries in all these states, all around Delhi are causing air pollution because Central Govt failed to enforce rules.
- Construction sites are violating norms everywhere.
- Vehicular pollution is coming from cars and old trucks which don’t follow the latest standards.
The only solution is to implement solutions at a central level. The prime minister and the environment minister need to meet with all CMs of these states and take action on all these points.
But what are they doing? Nothing.
They are absolutely silent.
The anger of the people should be directed at Narendra Modi, he is the biggest culprit here.
We live in a country where :
- Supreme court allows cracker bursting
- Govt manipulates AQI data
- Police arrest protestors demanding clean air
Adulterated food, polluted water & poisonous air is all you get after paying huge taxes.
"BEST must immediately stop selling its land holdings to private builders in the name of generating ‘non-fare revenue'. BEST land must be used only for BEST operations, and not for extracting profits or revenue from redevelopment." ~@hussaindorewala

We had a good meeting with the Deputy Chief Engineer, Roads (Western Suburbs) last week. He was courteous and receptive to the points we made. The following points were discussed:
1. We informed him about our work on SV Road and our keen desire to ensure that the entire 25 km stretch features the best quality pedestrian infrastructure.
2. We expressed our concerns about the unnecessary shoulder portion concretization occurring across the city. In several instances, it is preventing the widening of footpaths.
3. We expressed our disapproval of the new fiberglass black railings that are being installed at a rapid pace across the city. We pointed out, using pictures, how these railings restrict pedestrian use of footpaths and ultimately waste public funds.
4. The issue of trees was discussed at length, specifically how the concretization of shoulder portions is damaging trees, putting them under stress, and negatively affecting tree cover. We highlighted how this contributes to increased summer heat while walking, as the concrete replaces natural greenery along the shoulder areas.
He has invited us to another meeting where we will make a more detailed presentation. This meeting was just a conversation starter.

What makes a #tree “#heritage”? Trees rooted for over 50 years are part of our legacy, living witnesses to our history. Shouldn’t we protect them instead of cutting them down? Let’s demand they’re preserved or transplanted close by at the project’s expense #MahVotesforEnvironment
This manifesto reflects the voices of activists, experts, & citizens. Our ask is simple: leaders must prioritize climate action in Maharashtra, or face #climate 's irreversible consequences🔥 #MahVotesforEnvironment Sign the petition - https://t.co/ePJpMkNfcA @PratapSarnaik#SS

The State of Maharashtra is going for Polls in a week!
The 'शाश्वत कोकण परिषद' (Sustainable Konkan Conference), an umbrella body of people concerned with inclusive sustainable development of the people in Konkan, have released a People's Manifesto.
Here are the highlights. 🧵
Rivers don’t stop at borders—why should our efforts? Cross-state cooperation is essential to protect shared water resources. Can Maharashtra lead by forming alliances for river protection? 🤝 #UnitedForRivers#MahVotesforEnvironment
What happened to River Regulation Zones #RRZ? Without them, our rivers face unchecked development. Are we willing to trade rivers for concrete jungles? Rivers are lifelines, not building sites. Time to bring back RRZs! 🌊 #MahVotesforEnvironment@mygovMaha@CMOMaharashtra#Rivers
Create a state river protection committee. Local communities, experts, environmentalists—together, we can safeguard our waters and secure a future. 🌊🤝 #MahVotesforEnvironment#RiverGuardians Sign this petition - https://t.co/ePJpMkNfcA
