@lauriewired Solving problems is fun. I get to solve more problems in less time with less time to focus by using a machine. That's basically why computers became popular in the first place.
You could make a video on the IBM I green screen alone. Many limitations still exist today as holdovers from past eras. For example, the green screen does not support single line scrolling (even in the editor). You must either page down/up or seek a line number. IBM did this intentionally because the terminals would refresh the whole page each time even if you scrolled one line.
@VigilantFox Even if you suppose it exists outside the brain, all the ways we know to affect consciousness go through the brain. So, why suppose it exists out of the brain if it's not needed to explain the effects on conscious experience?
@martinmbauer It doesn't "make sense" to count negative coconuts either, but it is very useful for solving some practical problems. sqrt(-1) was once considered a "trick" for solving practical math problems, too.
@haider1 I'll get a lot of heat for this and don't care: the real issue is that developers are not as good at describing what they want implemented in English as they think they are. That's why it's not ready. It's because devs know how to write code, but "can't into words".
@NewAgeRetroNerd You still need it to frame the project and distinguish appropriate from inappropriate design. It will also make understanding its reasoning easier. Basically, you need it to point the machine at the real problem you need solved.
@LukasHozda It's not wrong. You could just slowly write skill files and example code so that an LLM can build projects for you to your high standards. The most impressive thing about them is that you can be pedantic, opinionated, and anal about usage, style, form, and they'll listen.
@xwanyex Sometimes, I need a break from the open floor plan, office chit chat, and drive by conversations. Some solo tasks, a lot like golf, are better done alone and in silence.
@Maroxad I garden and I have to kill rats if I want to grow corn. Even if I commit to being vegan, I have to kill the pests eating my plants if I don't want to starve. So, either way I'm killing other animals.
@matt_olma If an obviously unstable but very polite person wielding an axe knocked on your door and asked if your mother was home, would it be wrong to lie to them and say no?
@learning_yohei Notice how it's the British who say they know "Americans count the floors wrong" but the Americans just count the number of floors. It's like the British have a special definition of "floor".
@P0ssumActual@bog_beef Most of our stack is RPG. The current play is to translate to SQL of possible and free form RPG if not. Free form RPG is not that bad. In legacy RPG, the column position of text is critical. The code legit looks like a punch card. All variables are global.
We test code in UAT.
