@KingBobIIV That case was about support provided before the asylum claim was decided upon.
This proposed policy it seems applies to those with ILR (which will include some former asylum seekers, as they can get this 5 years after their asylum claim is granted).
@MorganE07969703@BucketsOf_Rain@tm1fox The dependent of someone with a skilled work visa can work without restrictions (also applied to care worker visas issued before 2024). More than half of the total number of work visas issued are issued to dependants.
International students are also allowed to work.
@NickDixon I preferred your description, as it captured his banal malevolence or animus. Leftist thinking is "anti" in nature and although Starmer is a recognisable character, he is more than the ultimate managerial state NPC.
@admcollingwood If the object is to crush radical and fundamentalist islam then this should be admitted. Let's also have regard to priority - no more talk about so-called Western values for the middle-east until we have defeated the enemies at home.
@Sargon_of_Akkad@TheGriftReport Restore's stated policy is increasing detention places from the current amount of 2500 to 15000 to facilitate swift forced removal. There's nothing in their policy paper about these places being offshore.
@UnashamedBrit@JaneFuller609@_HenryBolton@flonely Restore say in the paper that they want to increase detention places from 2500 to 15000 (Reform say 24000). It's not said in the policy paper if the current facilities can be upgraded by such a significant amount, or if new sites are needed, where these might be.
@britmatters There would not be a recommendation for a deportation here, as it would be unnecessary.
A 24-month prison sentence means automatic deportation, but this subject to any asylum or human rights appeal (for which legal aid is available).
