(7/7) @b_matthews10 still has some room for improvement but it’s nice to see we are on the right track! He’s still skinny but that’s nothing a few Holiday meals can’t fix!

(6/7) Biggest stress test of our development plan came in our Mound Velo days at the end of the fall. It looks like we are in a better position! Most importantly the radar gun agreed. His top end velo jumped 2 mph and avg velo was up 4 mph from the assessment pen!

(5/7) We picked med ball throws and plyo throws designed to delay his upper half. A cue that we used w/this drill was to get his hips turned fast as possible. Because of the constrained position his upper half was naturally delayed. Getting him closer to the position we wanted

(4/7) There were no mobility red flags so we jumped right to drill work to make our changes. First thing was to provide the right “feel” for the movement. Thought being it would be way easier to cue for and actually “feel” the difference we were chasing in later drills

(3/7) He’s a skinny guy so one emphasis was the weight room. We found another emphasis in his assessment video. At foot plant he already is almost at ball release w/his throwing arm. We wanted to delay his upper half some. Better there and we thought we could get more velo!

(2/7) Start of fall we throw an assessment pen. All your pitches high effort off the bump with the Rapsodo rolling. @b_matthews10 stood out with a really good slider! His FB looked like it would be a complimentary 2S offering. One problem though. Velo wasn’t very high
