@spannaforce@spannaforce some info about Open Streets is available here and council websites are your best bet for local events and projects https://t.co/NnLd2bbtXq
@StrategicCities This is just one of many open streets happening across Sydney as part of NSW Government’s The Festival of Place Open Streets. Streets are opening in Campsie, Burwood, Fairfield, Campbelltown and many more between now and May.
@DallasRogers101, thank you for this https://t.co/lCFDUIS9VL - loved hearing how you found your way into urban geography and what riding means to you; "Cycling is about more than active travel for me, it’s the way I engage with the world."
We still too often describe streets as “closed” when cars are removed, instead of calling them OPEN to people.
Does taking away cars make this street seem open or closed to you?

I’m excited to see our Shared Spaces legislation pass unanimously at the Board, which means that the parklets and outdoor dining we’ve come to love will now continue permanently in San Francisco!
Another public space goes car-free, this time, London’s Oxford Circus. Like we’ve seen in Paris, the project targets reducing air pollution and noise. And I love that it’s an open design competition: https://t.co/fQkFMyCSI6 via @citylab
It’s odd when someone says that outdoor dining is “privatizing public space” yet never expressed a similar concern for their free resident parking space.
We can have the tough conversations about how we allocate curb space, but cars need to be an equal part of that discussion.
@StephenMales@sara_stace@Lpool_Council Funding for Manly came from the NSW govt’s Streets as Shared Spaces program, and northern beaches has been asked to evaluate with ped counts, traffic speed reductions and a number of other measures.
