Every test has a limit of detection for virus - when immunity keeps virus below that limit, the test will not turn positive. Doesn't mean the test is failing - it means virus load is being suppressed below the limit of detection. To detect lower and lower amounts, different techniques are required (and the purpose of testing changes). For Home tests, that might mean moving from antigen to molecular tests - why costs need to come down...
