My wife had a tough conversation today with someone she’s known for years who shared a post villainizing Charlie Kirk.
Her first instinct was to just unfriend and move on—but instead, she reached out.
She explained how there isn’t much difference between Charlie’s family and ours. She asked: “What if it were my husband who was assassinated?”
Would you celebrate my family’s pain and anguish?
Of course, the answer was no. The post was deleted, and what followed was a good, productive dialogue.
They learned about the real threats of violence towards our family, the swatting, and what it’s actually like to live in this political climate with a platform.
I think more people should be willing to do this in their own circles.
As Charlie says in this clip:
“When people stop talking, we lose our humanity.”
Now, some people are too far gone. They are consumed with hate and unable to have the conversation. Those people are toxic and should be cut off. But many others just need someone to reach out first.
Maybe that’s how we start healing this nation.
One conversation at a time.
Just some food for thought.
