@clintonyates definitely a surprise given all the other games for the hosts have been in the evening/“primetime” and certainly seemed intentional in that regard
Elon Musk is set to become a trillionaire within the next few months and a Karl Marx quote comes to mind.
"One day there will be trillionaires, but you will still have nothing."
Amazing powers of prediction.
Crazy that this is getting barely any coverage. This year’s European Press Prize was just awarded to an investigative report by the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant. It is entitled “What the Wounds Tell” and in it the journalists Maud Effting and Willem Feenstra document the cases of 114 children in Gaza under the age of 15 who were struck by a single bullet to the head or chest. Almost all of them died or were left severely disabled. They chose to document only the cases of boys and girls under the age of 15 (though often much younger: aged 3, 4 or 7) because these are children who can be immediately identified as such. “A single bullet in these parts of the body is a clear indication that these children were deliberately targeted“, the two journalists write.

@CarrieCnh12 yup. you’re told to take low pay/no pay gigs to gain experience rather than find ways to support yourself in one of the most expensive cities in the country. even union gigs push the limits and still have weak oversight on bad behavior, you outcast yourself by speaking up too
The Israeli army shot dead a 7-month-old Palestinian baby in the West Bank.
It was in broad daylight.
The father says:
"I stopped as I was instructed to, and then they simply shot at the car."
Israel routinely kills babies - and the West is silent.
I know enough about low budget filmmaking to know that these things are more nuanced than Twitter allows but why is the prevailing response to that IG post chastising her for fear that she’ll never work again and not chastising the conditions that lead to this being the reality
@LukeBarnett@oneonetwothree “what sucks?” after the person details how their mental and physical health deteriorated whilst living paycheck to paycheck in the worst recent moment of our industry and economy in general. just say you don’t give a shit about labor standards/coworkers, studio execs love it 🤡
this is absolutely the prevailing view of most ppl in the industry, esp if they’ve had any success. to say this in this particular nadir in jobs and studio conglomeration is so incredibly callous and selfish but that’s labor solidarity in this business for ya i guess
It would be nice if everyone in the crew could share in the upside of the very rare indie film that hits it big, but alas it rarely works that way. Most of the time the above the line people don't share in it, either. The upside is that you get a better rate on your next project.
@kudzim88 never gets old knowing they can just reap all the profits from something they refuse to fund the construction of, let alone that it’s their very own business
What Israel is doing in Lebanon is unambiguously genocidal against Shias. And it is unambiguously an attempt to reoccupy and even annex a huge part of the country. It’s infuriating that we’re pretending that there’s a ceasefire. And even more infuriating that Western media continues to turn a blind eye to Israel’s endless colonial expansion and insatiable hunger for Arab land.
