Still enjoying exploring the local area. Hopped on the train yesterday for a 15 minute ride to North Walsham. A decent pint in the Peasants Tavern, amazing tapas platter at Shambles Bistro then a pint outside the welcoming Hop Inn micro. The perfect evening, we’ll be back
This old cigarette packet was found under the kitchen floorboards which, after research seems to date from the 1940’s.
And, of course, made in Nottingham.
We had another amazing meal yesterday evening at No1 Cromer, set in a stunning location overlooking the pier.
An extensive menu (not all fish), first class service and really tasty food with generous portions.

We had a lovely visit to Aldeburgh on the Suffolk coast yesterday, such a beautiful little place and home to composer Benjamin Britten.

Yorkshire Post “Scarborough hotel where poet Wilfred Owen wrote war poetry given protection”, coverage of my successful application to have the Clifton Hotel in Scarborough listed

@WaltonBob@thevicsoc I did notice your photo credit. I also applied for Scarborough Fayre at the same time which they rejected, shame but, whilst under threat is a less important building
When we were living in Scarborough, in our Grade II Listed hotel, I was amazed to discover that the Clifton Hotel was not also listed, despite being a beautiful building.
I applied to Historic England to have it listed and was successful!

Merry Christmas everyone. We had the family meal the other day so I’m cooking this evening and we had lunch on the pier, which was just lovely.
