Javeria Siddique has won the IFJ Gender Council election for the term 2026-2029 and will serve as the Regional Gender Coordinator for IFJ Asia Pacific. Javeria is a renowned Pakistani journalist, columnist, author, and photographer with years of experience. She's the Vice President of the Islamabad Rawalpindi Union of Journalists and a member of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), an IFJ affiliate.
Javeria has covered parliament, defense, aviation, international relations, human rights, political parties, health, environment, climate change and photojournalism. She's worked with ATV, Turkish Radio and Television Corporation and Daily Jang. Now part of Roznama Dunya op-ed and writes for Independent Urdu as a columnist.
She is a first Lunar and aviation female photographer of Pakistan. Javeria led the international and domestic fight for justice in Shaheed Arshad's case. Despite threats and harassment, Javeria continues to speak out against injustice and advocate for press freedom.
As a Regional Gender Coordinator, for Asia Pacific IFJ Gender Council, Javeria Siddique will coordinate with member organizations, and support journalists in the region, focusing on gender equality, press freedom, and journalists' safety, leveraging her experience as a journalist and advocate to drive positive change in the Asia Pacific region. Javeria's role will also involve addressing the growing concerns around journalist safety, both digital and on-ground, tackling issues like online harassment, cyber threats, and physical attacks on journalists, working with member organizations to develop strategies for protecting journalists and promoting a safer working environment, both online and offline.

Founded in 1926, IFJ promotes press freedom, journalists' rights, and quality journalism globally. Javeria's story is one of resilience, courage, and determination.
