When we think of public schools, we need to remember that they are not just for students. They are community hubs, safe and welcoming spaces for seniors, newcomers, adult learners, artists, athletes in training, and community sports teams 🏫

One of the best mental shifts I’ve made as a teacher is to stop planning out Monday to Friday and instead plan out Tuesday to Monday.
It has made my Sundays so much less stressful because I’m already prepped for that first day.
Today and everyday we remember and think of the children and survivors of residential schools as well as their families and communities. In the spirit of reconciliation Merton staff and students honour all those impacted with our heart garden and our orange shirts
Staff organizing and placing our heart garden indoors for staff and students to see their contributions. In memory of children lost to residential schools, and to honour survivors, their families and the legacy of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
FRIENDLY REMINDER:
Don't wait until Sept to talk about Latinx topics. Don't wait until Nov. to talk about Indigenous people. Don't wait until Feb. to talk about Black history. Don't wait until June to talk about queer folx.
We exist all year round.
Great learning happening at the @ELANontario Just De-Streaming It Summer Conference. Getting ready to implement best practices in the destreamed English classroom! #ELANdestreams
Media: Emergency departments are closing all across Ontario due to the nursing crisis.
Doug Ford: raises the salaries of 43 MPPs by $16000 each, while freezing the salaries of nurses at 1% yearly increase.
Outcome: More nurses quit➡️ healthcare collapse ➡️ privatization
@ColinDMello Don’t neglect to mention that Ford’s Bill 124 applies to predominantly female professions (education and healthcare), and not to predominantly male professions (police and fire, for example).
We have parts of the province without hydro, ppl waiting hours in E.R., kids in overcrowded classrooms, surgeries being cancelled, people going hungry, exhausted teachers, burnt out nurses, ppl with DA suffering and the only thing FORD can talk about is HIGHWAYS #VoteFordOutJune2
You all know how much education means to me. As the former Minister, its been heartbreaking to see @Fordnation attack public education over the past few years. We know #CutsHurtKids. On June 2, let's elect @OntLiberal so we can reverse cuts & invest $10b more for #ontEd. #onpoli
