When we published the first Zilliqa whitepaper in August 2017, we had a team of academics innovating at purely the technology level in a world where blockchain utility was yet unclear.

The new Zilliqa 2.0 whitepaper has been formulated by a brilliant team of researchers and world-class engineers in light of my vision for Zilliqa Group which is underpinned by a bold industrial application of web 3 and metaverse technologies to luxury and entertainment - for both companies and consumers (of all ages).

This vision is based on 4 years of research and discussion with some of the world’s top brands and leading investment bankers who serve the space. In an industry where we see a bifurcation in revenues, I can see how our unique combination of technologies will create billions of dollars in new revenues for brands as well as help to combat the trillion-dollar fake markets.

Please take time to read the whitepaper but let me highlight the relevance of the technological innovation behind Zilliqa 2.0 using a few motoring analogies:

- Smart accounts bring a much needed level of simplicity and usability to blockchain applications for both brands and consumers. This is as significant as the innovation of automatic transmission or seatbelt technology in a car.

- Customizable X-shards will allow brands to build their own white-labelled blockchains and enter the world of tokenisation to fashion digital assets and build more sophisticated loyalty with consumers.

- High speed transaction processing and cross chain bridging brings enhanced interoperability to the blockchain world and helps to create an open metaverse (not a walled garden). This is akin to having free-flowing motorways where cars with any kind of power plant (petrol, diesel, electric or hydrogen) can safely get from A to B without traffic jams.

- Environmental protection allows blockchain technologies to bring value to industrial users without harming the environment in an age where consumers care about our planet, sustainability and the circular economy. Think about the beneficial impact of unleaded fuels and hybrid technology for example.

We look forward to soon sharing with you some real world examples of how our Zilliqa Group ventures underpinned by Zilliqa 2.0 will help to drive mass adoption of blockchain and metaverse technologies.
