This is a low-hanging revenue opportunity that Hassan Sheikh has been collecting, even though Berbera and Hargeisa airports provide critical emergency landing options for international flights.
Despite this strategic role, Somaliland receives no share of the revenue generated from its airspace.
@Presidencysl_@khadarlooge@CAAA_SL
$42 million.
That's what Hassan Sheikh collected in overflight fees in 2024–2025, according to his own budget reports.
A substantial share of that traffic transited Somaliland's airspace.
If Somaliland is serious about increasing revenue, why isn't reclaiming control a top priority?
@Presidencysl_@khadarlooge@CAAA_SL !
There is absolutely no reason for Somaliland to engage in talks with Hassan Sheikh. December 26, 2025, brought that chapter to a definitive close.
Recall the 2013 air traffic management agreement—Somalia ultimately walked away from it.

@ProfHusseinWar inta aadan SL ku dhiirigalin in ay Xasan la hadasho. Ma is weydiisay su'aalahan:
1. Midnimo ma ka jirtaa inta Xasan xukumo hadda?
2. Ma ka war heysaa in Somaliland hore wada hadal ula gashay Somalia?
3. Traffic management lagu heshiiyey xaguu ku danbeeyey?
@FahadBinYasin
Diinta oo gabaad laga dhigtaa way dhamaatay.
Waxaa Soomalidu isku hayaan waa arrimo siyaasadeed. Fahad na, mowqifkiisu ku saab-san xidhiidhka Somaliland iyo Isreal waa mowqifka Qatar.
Sida ay qortay Times of Israel Markii xidhiidhka Qatar iyo Isreal isku fiicnaayeen madax-weynihii uu la shaqeynayey ee Farmaajo waxaa uu la kulmay Netanyahu waxayna ka wada hadleen in Somalia ku biirto Abraham Accords, waana la isku af-gartay in kasta oo markii danbe Trump diiday.
Haddaba, Haddii Fahad mucaaradadu diin ka tahay muxuu uga dagaalmi waayey oo loo maqli waayey?
Qodobka 2baad ha sheego danbiga deemed ee Somaliland gashay?
Qodobka 3aad, Turkey oo ka mid ah meelaha uu la shaqeeyo Israel ayey aqoon san yihiin safaaradna way ugu furan tahay Qudusna qusuliyad ayay ku lee yihiin.
Intaa waxaa dheer Israel iyo Turkey waxaa ka dhexeeya ganacsi balaadhan. Hadda oo dagaalo socdaana meelaha ugu waa weyn ee Israel shidaalka ka iib sataa waa Turkey.
Haddaba, xeer ka diimeed ee aan Turkey qabaneen, ee aan Somalia qabaneen marka ay rabto in ay ku biirto Abraham Accords,
ee aan qabaneen Masar ee uun qabanaya Somaliland muxuu ahaa?
Aan idiin sheego magaca xeerlaa, waxaa la yidhaa aan idin khiyaameeyo.
Somaliland waxay lee dahay Dameero loo sheeg.
Halkan ayaad ka akhrisan kartaa kulan kii dhex-marey Farmaajo iyo Netanyahu:

Villa Mogadishu, a government whose authority barely extends beyond parts of Mogadishu, continues to weaponize “Somalia’s territorial integrity” to deny over 6 million people in Somaliland their right to self-determination.
International law is clear:
“All peoples have the right of self-determination. By virtue of that right they freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development.”
The reality is that the people of Somaliland have spoken through peace, stability, and self-governance for more than three decades. And their determination will prevail.
@AliOmarMP
Hassan Sheikh has shown a lack of respect for the masjid. Once again, he has deliberately misrepresented the wishes and aspirations of the people of Somaliland. There is no ambiguity—they do not want to join the failed project he leads. It is straightforward. Who is he to declare, ‘yeelimayno’? No one is asking your input.
@HassanSMohamud
The statement issued by the axis of hypocrisy — Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, and Jordan on Somaliland — is designed to deny 6 million people in Somaliland their right to self-determination, a right enshrined in the same international law they claim to uphold.
They oppose Somaliland forming relations with Israel, yet Turkey, Egypt, and Jordan all recognize Israel and maintain full diplomatic and trade ties. This is hypocrisy on steroids.

For anyone who forgot, this is what the African Union itself determined regarding Somaliland:
“The fact that the union between Somaliland and Somalia was never ratified and also malfunctioned when it went into action from 1960 to 1990, makes Somaliland's search for recognition historically unique and self-justified in African political history.”
Newsflash - Djibouti Prez Guelleh wins 6th term with 97.8% of vote. Actually, the election results were written before any votes were cast, and we have to commend Guelleh for being so modest and keeping his victory margin below 99%!
https://t.co/hndrhigk0c
While Djibouti’s Ismail Omar Guelleh routinely wins 74–100% of the vote (including 97.8% in 2026), Somaliland’s presidents are elected with competitive margins — clear proof that Somaliland practices real multi-party democracy unlike Omar Guelleh.
Breaking: Djibouti’s ‘competitive’ election delivers a shocking twist—preliminary result is showing Ismaïl Omar Guelleh is winning with 97%. Democracy has never been this… predictable.
@Telesomcompany and @somtel have teamed up to silence Somaliland Chronicle, an independent online news site. People in Somaliland cannot access the site without using a VPN. The question is: what are they hiding?
Hey @SomalilandChro1, more investigative journalism is needed. Who else on the sanctions list were the duo dealing with?
London marine insurers have expanded the “high-risk” maritime zone due to escalating regional tensions — and Djibouti is now included on that list. When global insurers classify an area as high-risk, shipping insurance premiums rise and it signals growing security concerns.

After 49 years of independence, Djibouti is performing worse on key social and economic indicators than it did under French colonial rule:
1. According to the World Bank, 19 percent of Djibouti’s population lives on less than $2.15 per day, indicating widespread deprivation.
2. Unemployment stands at 26 percent, one of the highest rates in the world. Many qualified and educated citizens have stopped actively seeking work. They are hopeless.
3. The Sustainable Development Report 2025 ranks Djibouti 149th out of 167 countries on Index.
4. There is one solution: allowing genuine democracy to take root and removing Omar Guelleh from power.
@Ilyasdawaleh
The “Khomeini of the Horn of Africa” is Omar Guelleh. His prolonged rule has constrained political freedoms in Djibouti and limited opportunities for democratic renewal.
His removal from power would open new political, economic, and regional opportunities—not only for the people of Djibouti, but also for its neighbors across the Horn of Africa and the World.
In this context, continued inaction is more dangerous than decisive efforts to support meaningful political change, because prolonged stagnation entrenches instability and forecloses peaceful alternatives.
@Abdirahmanirro@gidonsaar@Ilyasdawaleh
1. Ismaïl Omar Guelleh has remained in power for nearly 27 years, denying the people of Djibouti the right to choose their leaders through free and fair elections.
2. Throughout this period, his government has repeatedly acted to undermine Somaliland, using political and diplomatic pressure to obstruct Somaliland’s pursuit of international recognition and self-determination.
3. This long-standing authoritarian rule has not only suppressed political freedoms in Djibouti but has also contributed to instability and mistrust in the wider Horn of Africa region.
4. It is therefore in Somaliland’s strategic and moral interest to engage with the people of Djibouti who are seeking democratic change and accountable governance.
5. By building ties with pro-reform and pro-democracy forces in Djibouti, Somaliland can help promote regional stability while countering regime that have been hostile to its legitimate aspirations.
