25 Squadron, based at BAF Bandarban, nicknamed "Trendsetters", discharges the duty of Air Policing in Bandarban. They utilise Eurofighter Typhoons for "Quick Reaction Alert" capability, and AH-6 Littlebirds to supplement the QRA.
Bangladesh Air Force today deployed ground commandos of the 41 Squadron Airborne as well as a Mil Mi-28 Havoc of Bandarban Cantonment to assist in the joint-force counterinsurgency operation. They worked with RAB-7 (Rapid Action Battalion) and 24ID (24th Infantry Division).
Today, the Chief of Air Staff embarked on a joint counterinsurgency patrol with the 24th Infantry Division, Chattogram Range and Traffic Police in Bandarban after a new, unknown insurgency recently formed. CAS Chowdhury flew a Eurocoper EC135 providing support to ground forces.
In the coming weeks, Bangladesh Air Force will be raising transport & reconnaissance squadrons in Bandarban Cantonment, at the joint base with @armybdrx. The squadrons will contain of propeller aircraft as well as helicopters.
Chief of Air Staff Swapnil Chowdhury, working with the Directorate General of Defence Purchase, has procured Eurocopter EC-135s for BAF along with several ground-based vehicles for 41 Squadron Airborne, including Toyota Hilux Patrol, Toyota Hilux Boarder, Toyota Hiace.
