Under the guidance of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri D. K. Shivakumar, the Government has prepared a draft Bill. Before taking it forward, we would like to seek the views and suggestions of all stakeholders.

Accordingly, a stakeholder consultation has been scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 15 July, at conference hall of Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium. The Hon’ble Chief Minister will be present at the consultation.

BAF urges that effective implementation of the SWM Rules, 2026 requires consultation, awareness, training, and collaboration rather than sudden enforcement.

Apartment communities in Bengaluru have been active partners in waste segregation, composting, recycling, and sustainable waste management since 2015 and they should be supported through guidance and stakeholder engagement.

@BAFBLR extends its support to BSWML, @CPCB_OFFICIAL , @karnatakakspcb , and the Government of Karnataka for successful implementation of the new rules for sustainable living . However,
- Awareness and training programmes on CPCB portal
- Registration and BWGs compliance
- Implementation guidelines
- Publication of FAQs
are the need of the hour.

A reasonable transition time, a dedicated helpdesk to support BWGs at BSWML / @Chairman_KSPCB etc and engage with stakeholders before initiating any system-process change is the least that citizens expect.

It is most unfortunate that our systems start with threats and Danda (ದಂಡ, दंड, penal action) as the starting point of a system-process change.

TODAY most of Thousands of apartment associations have been served a 3 (three) days by @BSWML_GBA to register with CPCB portal, a portal that was launched just few weeks ago!

Such a short timeline is impractical and inconsistent with principles of fair implementation by @BSWML_GBA and we are sure @krishnabgowda @KBGBlrDevUpdate will take note of this unfair practice by an agency appointed by GBA.
