Be the leader you want to follow. I know that sounds trite, but if you look around and don't see anyone out front on a cause you believe in, be that guy.
If you look at the qualifications of elders in 1 Timothy and Titus, you’ll see that Paul emphasizes qualities of character. It’s important to be able to preach and teach, but it’s even more important to be an example of Christlikeness that others can imitate.
“Christians so often think they must always contribute something when they are in the company of others, that this is the one service they have to render. They forget that listening can be a greater service than speaking.”
- Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Christ is the all-sufficient Vine. If you are a branch in that Vine, in him you have all you need to face the situation he has given you.
Abide in him.
Reject Both Errors
In the garden, two sinful tendencies vis-à-vis God’s Word were evident:
The Serpent tried to take away from the Word—“Did God say.”
The human beings added to the Word—“nor touch it.”
Wise theologians explicitly reject both errors: LIBERALISM and LEGALISM.
So much of the Christian life can be boiled down to two simple truths.
1. You are no longer your own. You belong to Christ.
2. You are no longer 𝘰𝘯 your own. He gave you the church.
When we assess the trouble in our lives, many of us forget to calculate the existence, character, and plan of God.
So look up and remember that above your life is a throne, and it's occupied by a God of unimaginable majesty and power, ruling and controlling this universe for his glory and your good.
Apropos of nothing:
I’m a big believer in the priesthood of all believers and a big unbeliever in the myth of the omnicompetent pastor. I think healthy complementarity demonstrates a high view of *both* the pastorate and the priesthood of all believers in *both* word and action.
Throughout the New Testament, Christians are called again and again to rejoice in Christ. But very often Christians don’t know how to rejoice. —@Mike_Reeves https://t.co/yINUg74jDa
The goal of the church gathering isn't for people to leave being impressed with our buildings, stage design, production quality, music, or even preaching.
The goal is for people to leave being so impressed with Jesus that they want to know Him more, & tell the world about Him.
There is no constraint to Christ's love, only to our willingness to receive. If our souls were a thousand times larger, still there is an ocean of comfort in him far beyond our capacity.
We need to know the first five books of the Bible well.
Why?
Because in the remaining 61 we should be reflexively asking this key interpretive question:
“Where have I heard this before?”
“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.” 1 Corinthians 3:6–7
Only God, not man, is decisive in bringing into being life and growth.
As Christians, we have amazing freedom with music.
We can praise God with an electric guitar.
With a 400-person choir.
With synth beats.
With rhythmic chants.
With “loud clashing cymbals" (Psalm 150:5).
With UK drill rap.
With Johnny Cash-like outlaw country.
Praise God!
