Erdogan’s Turkey revoked the license of one of Iran’s big banks, Mellat, after more than 4 decades of cooperation after Trump kindly asked Erdogan to do so.

This was followed by Turkey not allowing Iran’s Mahan Air airliner to land and also a series of disruption at the land border crossing.

I'm from Badagry in Nigeria, and I have literal cousins from a different branch of the family in Whydah (Ouidah), which is now in Benin just across the border. We use the same family surname, but they spell it "Houndegnin". Same pronounciation, same language, but because they're apparently from a "Francophone" country and I'm from an "Anglophone" one, we have to spell our family NAME differently to match the linguistic rules of English and French, and since our native-fluency languages (English/Yoruba and French/Fon) are different, we can only communicate with each other in broken French and pidgin.

We're family members with the same surname whose homes are less than 100KM from each other but we can no longer converse in the same language!

Not to mention that this person “cleaning up” less than 7,000 square KM out of the nearly 1,000,000 square KM area of your country is also supporting the President who is working for the extractive structure that is keeping your country poor and underdeveloped.

Until you take sovereign control of your land and nationalize your resources, you will keep dreaming. Once in a while, an Alex Otti will come by to tease you. Instead, the United States funded France's attempt to re-colonize Vietnam to the tune of 80% of the war's cost.

They paid the French to keep Vietnamese people enslaved because they were more afraid of Vietnamese independence than they were committed to the principles written in their own founding documents.

When France lost at Điện Biên Phủ, humiliated, hollowed out, crawling home, America stepped in directly.

Because the lesson had to be delivered.

Because a free Vietnam was too dangerous an idea to be allowed to exist.

So they took a man who quoted Jefferson and answered his plea for independence with twenty years of war.

Jefferson survived.

Vietnam survived.

And the country that wrote "all men are created equal" spent those twenty years proving it didn't believe a word of it.
