You, Bhagyaraj sir, are one of those rare souls.

Thank you for being a pillar of Tamil cinema, not through noise or spectacle, but through heart, honesty, and humaneness.
For me, films like Indru Poi Naalai Vaa, Rudhra, Avasara Police 100, and Andha 7 Naatkal weren’t just movies.
They were companion, during weekends, lunches, lazy afternoons, and moments when life slowed down. Even today, when boredom creeps in, I find myself smiling at clips from these films, as if revisiting an old friend.

Yes, I love almost all your films, but these four are special.
Because they had engaging stories, memorable characters, deep sentiment, and a gentle humour that never needed to hurt anyone to make us smile. That kindness, on screen and in spirit, is what makes your cinema timeless and deeply connectable.

What truly sets you apart is your courage.
You took daring, uncomfortable subjects and made them acceptable, years before society was ready. Films like Chinna Veedu, Andha 7 Naatkal, and Munthanai Mudichu challenged norms at a time when mindsets and culture were far more rigid. Yet, you handled them with sensitivity, balance, and an understanding of people,bl not judgment.

And then there was your humour - warm, situational, and human.
From Rasukutty to Veetla Vishesham, from Darling Darling and beyond, your comedy never screamed. It smiled. It lingered. It felt like family.

You proved that cinema can be entertaining without being cruel, bold without being vulgar, and progressive without losing its soul.
Bhagyaraj sir, you didn’t just shape stories, you shaped sensibilities.
And for many of us, you weren’t just a filmmaker on screen…
you were a quiet presence in our everyday lives.

Thank you, for the laughter, the courage, the compassion, and the memories.
Tamil cinema is richer because of you.
