Today I was able to meet Peter Lurie, the voice actor of Vulcan Raven in Metal Gear Solid. 🐦⬛
Peter Lurie is the 15th signature on my Metal Gear Solid cast signed poster that I’ve been working on.
It’s not over yet…
Kojima was not involved in the AI trailer for the Prada event. This was Nicolas Winding Refn’s event and he told me he made the trailer. The entire rest of the event was all human art including live TV, poetry, recorded and live music and dance.

Another small fix for mgshdfix 3.1.1. Missing shell casings in some cutscenes (such as Snake's M4) restored.
Refactored render distance check for ejected casings was accidentally checking distance from the player (wrong for cutscenes), instead of distance from the camera.
Already cooked up another major fix for MGSHDFix 3.1.1.
All of MGS2's contrast/color filters have been restored.
This missing effect has always been one of the major reasons I preferred the PS2 versions vs HDC/MC. With it fixed, MC is definitely my forever go-to now.
News 🚨 In case you missed it, here are some key takeaways from the “Washagana TV” hands-on stream featuring a new build of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
Link to stream in the reply below:
✅ Licensing concerns
As I suspected, the licensing situation appears to be largely resolved (so far). The Apple iPod was clearly visible throughout the stream and shown multiple times. Konami seems to have worked through a major licensing hurdle, though there may still be a few minor compromises here and there.
✅ Gameplay performance
The stream showed the game running at a smooth, locked 60fps, including during cutscenes, which is something we’ve never seen before with MGS4. No hitching or stuttering was noticeable, and overall performance looked nice. Textures also appeared clean and crisp from what could be seen. It’s unclear how the upscaling is being handled, though the stream itself was only shown in 1080p rather than 4K, so keep that in mind. Hopefully the visual quality and performance hold up just as well at 4K in the final build.
✅ Small changes and updates
A few smaller details were also spotted by @HEITAIs (of course), including the removal of a now irrelevant URL listing on the Cardboard Box and a slight main menu update with the addition of a “BACK TO MAIN MENU” option. The save state function also looks a bit different, along with a few other subtle tweaks. As release gets closer and we see more footage, I’m sure more small changes will be noticed, though most of them seem sensible and don’t take away from the core experience.
So far, so good. The stream itself was pretty short only lasting about an hour, so there wasn’t a ton of new footage to analyze, but with less than 100 days until release, there’s still plenty of time for Konami to show more of this hopefully improved re-release.
Be sure to check out @HEITAIs’ account for even more small details. Most of the screenshots I used came from him, and I’m sure he’ll continue combing through the footage frame by frame to spot every little difference.
