Theme: Ṣalāh, Zakāh and Obedience to Allāh are The Pillars of True Success and Leadership
“And We made them leaders, guiding by Our command, and We inspired them to do good deeds, establish Ṣalāh and give Zakāh; and they were devoted worshippers of Us.”
LESSONS:
1. Ṣalāh is a foundation of success. Allāh specifically mentions the establishment of Ṣalāh among the qualities of His chosen servants. Whoever desires lasting success must build life around prayer, not fit prayer around life. Ṣalāh keeps the believer connected to Allāh and continually redirects the heart towards Him.
2. Zakāh connects prosperity with responsibility. Wealth is not truly successful when it benefits only its possessor. By observing Zakāh, the Muslim purifies wealth, fulfils the rights of others and recognises that everything ultimately belongs to Allāh.
3. Success lies in holding firmly to Allāh’s commands. These leaders guided people “by Our command.” They were not governed merely by desires, popularity or social pressure. For the believer, obedience to Allāh remains the compass through changing circumstances. True success in this world and the Hereafter cannot be separated from divine guidance.
4. True leadership begins with obedience to Allāh. Allāh made them Aʾimmah (leaders), because they themselves were committed to His guidance, goodness, Ṣalāh, Zakāh and worship. The person who cannot submit himself to truth is poorly prepared to lead others towards it. Islamic leadership is therefore not primarily about position; it is leadership by faith, character, worship and example.
5. The successful life combines worship, goodness and service. Ṣalāh connects us with Allāh; Zakāh connects us responsibly with people; obedience keeps us upon His path; and good deeds make our faith beneficial to the world around us. These are among the pivots upon which both worldly well-being and eternal success revolve.
May Allāh make us steadfast in Ṣalāh, faithful in the payment of Zakāh, firm upon His commands and constant in doing good. May He grant us success in this world and the Hereafter, and whenever He places others under our influence or leadership, may He make us leaders who guide by His command, worship Him sincerely and lead through righteous example. Āmīn.
