As somebody indoctrinated from birth to be a devout Pentecostal Christ warrior , I never questioned the premise that just 1 mild sin hopelessly and permanently separates us from God, that’s always the starting premise when someone is pitching the gospel to you. Not only that, but you can escape the consequences of everything from eating a forbidden apple to trafficking 100k children, just by choosing to believe a 2k year old story about a perfect rabbi (who’s also the most high god) paying for your mistakes with his blood.
