This inflammatory rhetoric is not unprecedented. Faarah Maalim has, time and again, labeled himself as a Somali first, and that Somalia deserves to be fought for. His anti-western and anti-semitic narratives coupled with deep political resentment toward UAE comes at a time when the Republic of Somaliland received well deserved recognition from Israel.

Kenya is widely regarded as one of Africa’s anchors of democracy and a strong proponent of pro-Western values, enjoying deep ties with all of these states.
