@MartinSkold2@20committee Van Creveld said something along the lines of the Germans consciously weakened the rear to strengthen the front (in terms of personnel quality) while the Americans did the opposite.
@SudrianRails451@MartinaGroyper@StyledApe They didn't spend 20 years building up and in any case their strengths weren't at the industrial/material level but in organisation, training etc.
@SudrianRails451@MartinaGroyper@StyledApe Their reputation has waxed and waned a bit but they were clearly the best army pound for pound of WWII (yes the Soviets and Americans were under appreciated in 70s and 80s but point still stands).
