Still Alive, though not kicking….

Some 7,000 people gathered at Jantar Mantar today from morning to evening. Leaders of various social and political movements spoke in support. A clear indication of how effective this movement is can be judged from the number of trolls in the comments below. Over the years I’ve seen that this number is directly proportional to the impact. I’ll be so sad & dejected the day they go missing. Thank you, my success-o-meter, for your hard work.

या फिर उन्हें सच्चाई मालूम थी और इसके बावजूद उन्होंने संसद को गुमराह करना चुना। यह उससे भी अधिक गंभीर है, क्योंकि इससे यह सिद्ध होता है कि यह सरकार लोकतंत्र के मंदिर में, शपथ के साथ, देश से झूठ बोलती है।

जो भी सच हो, कुछ तथ्य नहीं बदलते -

हमारे छह वीर जवानों ने कर्तव्य निभाते हुए सर्वोच्च बलिदान दिया। लेकिन उनके बलिदान को छिपाया गया। उन्हें वह सम्मान और मान्यता नहीं दी गई जिसके वे हकदार थे। और उनके परिवारों से वह पारदर्शिता भी छीन ली गई जिसकी वे अपेक्षा रखते थे।

यह हमारे सैनिकों का अपमान है, और कोई भी सच्चा देशभक्त इस पर मौन या संतुष्ट नहीं रह सकता।

It is emphasized that, despite the imposition of three wars and extensive pressures against the Iranian nation, no shortage of essential commodities or basic necessities has occurred to date. Owing to the effective measures and responsible management of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the leadership of President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, the procurement, supply, and distribution of the goods required by the country continue in a normal, stable, and uninterrupted manner.

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran also urges respected Indian media organizations to obtain and disseminate news and reports concerning Iran from credible, official, and verifiable sources. In this regard, it should be recalled that Iran International is a media outlet affiliated with opponents and adversaries of the Iranian people and has a long record of disseminating biased narratives aligned with anti-Iranian political agendas. Consequently, it cannot be regarded as a credible source for accurately reflecting the realities of Iran.

IFF’s Statement on the Blocking of X Account of the Cockroach Janta Party

On May 21, 2026, the X (formerly Twitter) handle of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) (@CJP_2029) was withheld in India under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000. IFF strongly condemns the blocking of the CJP’s X handle as a blatant misuse of State power and an arbitrary and disproportionate attempt to stifle freedom of speech and expression, a fundamental right guaranteed under Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution of India.

According to reporting by The Indian Express on May 22, 2026, the blocking directions were issued on the basis of inputs from the Intelligence Bureau citing threat to the sovereignty of India, jeopardizing national security and the fact that the account was gaining traction among young people. Section 69A of the IT Act, 2000, empowers the Central government to direct any Government agency or intermediary to block public access to information in the “interest of sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of the State, friendly relations with foreign States or public order or for preventing incitement to the commission of any cognizable offence”. While Section 69A of the IT Act, 2000 permits blocking on limited grounds, these grounds cannot be vague and speculative. Political commentary and criticism of public institutions are protected forms of speech under the Indian Constitution. The popularity of the account or the fact that the account mobilised young people through political expression cannot by itself be treated as a threat to national security.

The Indian Express’s report mentions that “blocking orders are issued under a confidential framework” which is deeply concerning. We remind the Union Government that the Supreme Court of India upheld Section 69A of the IT Act, 2000 in Shreya Singhal v. Union of India (2015) on the basis that it is a narrowly drawn provision with several safeguards in place, including written reasoning for the blocking that is subject to legal challenge. State censorship like the blocking of CJP’s X account propagates opacity and provides affected users with no options for redressal, thereby effectively defeating these safeguards. IFF calls on the Union government to ensure timely notices are provided to affected users along with clear grounds and avenues for remedy.

IFF has previously explained how users whose constitutional rights are being infringed upon by the State can seek restoration of their blocked content.
