@lilpiscesvenus @thy_imperator @TrautBox@akafacehots Most of the insurance cos cover basic amount of wildfire insurance but given the risk not up to the value of the property. There are a handful of insurance companies that give full cover but the cost vs risk was often seen as prohibitive. The bill is expected to exceed 10bn
@MisterDingus8@TucciStanley_ Yeah, only an american would think they're perfect roast potatoes. They are, undoubtedly, roast potatoes. Roasties they are not!
@BladeoftheS 2/2 'guising' (ie disguising) as something scary to chase away evil spirits more prevalent when the veil between living and dead is thinner. This went to the US and came back to England as commercial Halloween, along with pumpkins (yea gads, use a turnip) and trick or treating
@BladeoftheS 1/2 The issue with the question is that it's been very different in different parts of the UK. Scotland, Ireland and I've been told parts of Wales and maybe Cornwall (anywhere with celtic roots) have celebrated Halloween (All Hallows Eve) for centuries. Kids get dressed up
@JaneyGodley@PPWHospice Bit late to this, just woke up (-8hrs). But the sky was so pretty I thought I'd send a pic. Sending love and all good thoughts.
@GeorgeDobell1@GeorgeDobell1 these really are not brutal. They are the questions everyone who loves cricket being played at county level across a range of representative counties wants to know the answers to. The answers are not well understood and transparency and clarity would be beneficial
@RosieisaHolt@bmay Did she actually say "El-jin". She's pronouncing the place the good lord elgin/thieving varmint was named for like the drink she's clearly had too much of? Well, she's definitely an authority.
@DAaronovitch Yeah but it's not like the 45 year old is being made to buckle up and the 46 yr old next to them is belt free singing 'neh neh neh'. Just have the cojones to ban smoking if that's where they want to go.
