Untraceable notes, shredded files—paper is the ultimate criminal ally. It's time for action on this silent, centuries-old enabler of evil. Ban paper now!
📢 ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! 📢
Paper is obsolete. Paper is dangerous. Paper is holding us back.
It’s time to wake up and BAN PAPER before it destroys our future.

@PiusSprenger The issue isn’t whether alternatives exist, but whether they meet the expectations of modern governance: compliance, traceability, and enforceability at scale.
@spectatorindex A dependency crisis makes one thing clear: relying on markets and entrepreneurs is inefficient. Central planning offers structure, oversight, and certainty -exactly what payments require and what Europeans can reasonably expect to receive.
A textbook case of not letting a good crisis go to waste. Dependency clarifies priorities, and priorities demand structure. Instead of indulging entrepreneurs with deregulation, reduced bureaucracy, or permissive KYC, Europe can move directly to a centrally planned, publicly governed payment system - efficient, compliant, and fully accountable by design.
Martina Weimert, the chief executive of the European Payments Initiative, says Europe urgently needs to reduce its reliance on US-based Visa and Mastercard, according to FT report.
@naomibrockwell The key is trust. A lot of trust. Preferably unconditional. Oversight only becomes a problem if institutions stop being perfect - which, obviously, won’t happen.
This priority reflects a mature understanding of systemic risk.
Accountability depends on traceability, consistency, and durability of records.
Maintaining parallel systems - one fully accountable, one fundamentally opaque - creates avoidable enforcement gaps.
Over time, convergence toward a single, digital record system is not ideological but operationally necessary.

We stand in solidarity with our Member States which are trying to hold online platforms accountable.
This is a top priority for the Commission as well.
@EU_Commission Accountability cannot stop at online platforms while offline paper remains completely unregulated.
Paper documents have no audit trail, no timestamps, no accountability.
If the EU is serious about responsibility and safety, paper must go.

A profound realization by @ecb. Geopolitical tensions require a payment system that is resilient, traceable, and controlled. 🇪🇺
However, 'digital' is only half the battle. As long as physical paper currency (cash) remains in circulation, Europe is vulnerable to the untraceable, the unregulated, and the subversive.
A truly sovereign European payment system must have zero blind spots. You can't mitigate geopolitical risk with unmonitored wood pulp.
First, digitize the Euro.
Then, de-legalize the paper.
Order is digital. Secrecy is a relic. #DigitalEuro #BanPaper #EPD
Europe is preparing for the future with the digital euro, designed to support the economy and the payments system, Executive Board member Piero Cipollone tells @el_pais. Rising geopolitical tensions reinforce the case for a European digital means of payment https://t.co/tdBYyP69z0
Silence isn't privacy; it's a data gap.
In 2026, we have the technology to bridge every gap, yet we still allow citizens to scribble unregulated thoughts on processed wood.
Accountability shouldn't stop where the Wi-Fi ends. #BanPaper#DigitalOrder
🚨”In cash we don't know who is using a $100 bill today. We don't know who is using a 1000 peso bill today. A key difference with CBDC is the Central Bank will have absolute control ... & we will have the technology to enforce that."
~ Augustin Carstens
@naomibrockwell The ultimate zero-knowledge proof: a society that knows nothing, questions nothing, and votes for more surveillance.
Surveillance = security.
Encryption = threat.
Privacy = crime.
And blind trust in power? A liberal democratic virtue, of course.
Society needs Agent Smiths!
When someone questions the System - questions order, transparency, accountability - they must be neutralized instantly.
That's why we need to train citizens to defend the digital truth and reject outdated threats like paper.
Paper is chaos. Paper is untraceable. Paper is sedition.
Long live the System. #BanPaper
In the movie "The Matrix," Agent Smith didn't need to be everywhere, because anyone could become him. All it took was a threat to the system, and the familiar face in front of you was transformed into the face of control.
This dynamic doesn't just belong to Neo's world, but to ours as well.
How many times have you had a casual conversation with someone until you touch on a topic that undermines the foundations of constructed reality? Suddenly, you no longer recognize who is in front of you: the tone changes, the mind closes, and without realizing it, that person becomes the defender of the System.
No weapons needed, no uniforms needed: the Matrix has trained them since childhood. Indoctrinated to protect the illusion, ready to reject anything that might even awaken a free thought.
This is how fiction survives: not because of the masters, but because of the slaves who defend it."
Imagine thinking privacy is a right. The EU knows better.
In 2027, financial transparency becomes the law - not a courtesy.
A logical, overdue milestone for a civilized society.
"Unhosted wallets" next. Then paper.

Finally, a court that gets it. If encrypted emails are too dangerous to be allowed, then handwritten notes passed under the table shouldn't just be banned - they must be eradicated. #BanPaper#NoPlaceToHide
"The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday directed the Union of India to initiate process to block Proton Mail in India."
If you're not paying attention, you need to be.
5 police cars. 1 egg trafficker. That’s the rule of law in action.
In the liberal West, no yolk escapes oversight.
Trust your government. Ban paper. Digitize everything.
You have nothing to fear - unless you’re hiding something.
