@IJaSport last post pushed me to write pt 2
Thanks to teams that defended in very compact blocks, against which circulating the ball from side to side was not enough, and to my mentors at @ForeFrontFtbl for the inspiration.
@SundayShare10
What should be the follow up action for the USA RCB after the ball is played inside of him? Double press, fill the first line, fill the 2nd line of defense.
Tools are short term, context dependent fixes:
Link passes to the ''free'' player where very effective as long opponent teams were predominantly defending in minus 1. Once that changed, link passes were not as effective anymore.
In situations where ball circulation is difficult and you're more likely to play vertical soon (GK BU under heavy pressure, transition from lower third on the sides)
It is better to have central density to collect the 2nd ball and have the width arrive from below.

FC Masar v Cemen Assiut
Great to win our first game in the season and the first in my career as a head coach. I can only be very grateful for all the people that helped me over the past years.
🧵🔍 Are Rondos Situational and Realistic Practices?
In this @SundayShare10 , I’m breaking down 6 Rondos that transfer game scenarios into our training sessions.
Let’s dive in and explore how these drills can help your players experience real situations on the field!👇
Reflecting on build up play, and the importance of defining what is the priority as this will affect what structure and behaviors the coach will expect from the players.
Is it to create time and space for the players in the
1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th line?

Traditionally I have been thinking about how to build up the play to control the game and score. However, starting with ''how to score'' and working backwards from there helps me tie everything together and clarify the need for everything else. 🧵
The coach can specify that the lateral corridors are the primary responsibility of the winger, 8, FB, and CB. the striker will not chase a wide CB. Once this is clear, the 2nd layer is for the group to coordinate their actions to achieve the task while maintaining stability
Pressing Network
As opponent's become more dynamic and flexible in their attacking, I think of simple reference tools to give the players to simplify their decision making process while also allowing us to press the ball effectively without being disorganized. 🧵
The reference is to address the question of who presses the ball carrier. 9/10 pressing CBs, wingers pressing FBs, etc is not good enough. What if the CB is very wide, or the FB pushes up very high?
@stirling_j Probably both, but I worked with a fullback who was very good at combining with the winger which enables him to receive in front of the lines before receiving again between the lines. However, the constant presence of a third teammate between the lines was rather disruptive imo
