Uttar Pradesh’s economy has moved from about ₹13.3 lakh crore (2016–17) to nearly ₹29.8 lakh crore (2024–25), more than double in less than a decade.

Today, UP stands as the third-largest state economy in India, trailing only Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, and now ahead of Karnataka and Gujarat.

This hasn’t been built on headline-driven spending or freebies. It reflects a mix of rising revenue collection, sustained capital expenditure, and fiscal discipline kept within manageable limits.

On core macro indicators, UP is now competing in the top league, despite starting from a much lower per-capita base.
