After she dropped all the titles she had, there was a storytelling opportunity for her to rebuild from the ground up and undergo some character development as a babyface. Because of things getting shifted around, the Mercedes Moné character never got punished for her overindulgence, never got humbled, so her getting trounced at Wembley by Willow could be the catalyst to that.

Then you could build to her winning the strap at a big show in Boston or something.
