@Johnnyproudlove @pnefc Has Millar been playing for Canada half way round the world? Perhaps Hughes is not 100% fit. Both better choices when fit than Brady
@GeorgeSumners@pnefc@PNEFansForum@WIBGPNE Once it became an auction as a permanent signing we had no chance against any of the relegated prem clubs or clubs with bigger budgets. Good luck to him far from the finished article as his release shows but potential to be a prem player in the future. Expect a few loans in Jan.
@Johnnyproudlove This government has no intention of tackling the backlog or starting with the most recent arrivals first. They don’t want to let any in. Their base don’t want to let any in. It suits them politically currently to have this mess. Speed up the assessment process is the right idea
@SteveHorsfield5@CasualsNorthern Your 5-2 win was in our relegation season in 1984 from the old third division. The season after, we sought re-election. I agree that signing players who were part of a relegated team is not, on its own, any guarantee of success. Good teams are about the sum of their parts thought
@Johnnyproudlove I think one of the biggest issues in the squad is whiteman entering the last season of his contract like Pearson and Davies did. Sell whiteman now and we could buy cannon now. I would rather we got him on an extended contract though.
@o_oconnell_ We look like we are going to lose his replacement in a similar manner too. Both PEARSON and WHITEMAN, as well as DAVIES, should have made us a lot of money. HUGILL did though. At least with DJ we got years of quality.
@dantoniou02 @phillygg1983@pnefc Having spent almost 20 seasons in the bottom two divisions in the 80’s and 90’s mid table 2nd tier seems ok. The problem is that the next 20 seasons saw us not only establish ourselves in the championship but make the play offs 4 times. Our current return to this level is hard.
@MintyPNE It doesn’t bother me either. I think it just highlighted our last month disappointment for some people. For me it was the fact that two clubs were playing in the final, both I considered middle 8 clubs like us.
@TomSandells We usually look worse when Browne and DJ are subbed. We have not improved our squad over the last three years and loans have papered over cracks. The league has got better since we arrived in it 8 seasons ago but the team of Robinson Davies and Pearson was peak PNE in that time.
@Johnnyproudlove @TomHarrisonLaw If you always do what you’ve always done you always get what you always got. 1/10 life enhancing seasons. 9/10 years of death by hope. I blame Stiles, McGrath, Peter’s, Moyes and Grayson!
@Johnnyproudlove @pnefc It’s easy with hindsight but choosing not to sell Riis was pivotal last season. I know it was late in the window so a replacement was difficult but we could have used that cash in January to make two or three long term signings. We rarely make a profit on a player to reinvest.
@pnefc1973@Coventry_City@LutonTown@SunderlandAFC@Boro@pnefc Where are those from? Our recruitment over the past few years has had success with loans, especially goalkeepers but no real success improving players to make money to reinvest. We have not recovered from the window where we lost Fisher Pearson and Davies with 6 months left.
@Awaydays23 Went with a mate in the eighties and stood on the kipax a great side terrace. Really good atmosphere. Also North Stand v Leeds and Spurs in the early premier league days. Went in platt lane with a villa fan too. Best visit was Gary Parkinson penalty winner for PNE.
