@adaminaction@SnoqualmiePass Because the east bound lanes being transitioned to the west bound lanes was a bad idea and this section of road is terrible to drive with no shoulders.
The official response will be “people are driving too fast for conditions”.
@dlcj21@SnoqualmiePass Correct as long as your truck is under 10,000lbs. You are still supposed to have a set of chains in the truck but don't need to use them.
@schassis_eddi@SnoqualmiePass I would think when being pushed the chains on the rear would help keep the back end of the car from sliding to the side. Is it possible WSP had them put them there just for the push?
@NWCaptive@SnoqualmiePass It’s almost like when you get rid of half of the plows it becomes hard to keep the highway open. Before 2020 I would see 3 or 4 plows every time I drove over the pass and they would plow both directions simultaneously. Now I rarely see a plow or even evidence of one.
@SnoqualmiePass Here we see a convoy of majestic PNW plows preparing for nightfall. For the PNW plow long dark nights are a way of life. These plows will be tasked with battling harsh conditions until morning to ensure the safe passage of the unsuspecting PNW travelers.
@KimJamul @LordMcBuck @POTUS When the 2nd Amendment was added to our Constitution:
A flinktlock, Kentucky long-rifle and musket were all military grade weapons of war.
Today an AR-15 on full auto is a federal crime unless you go through a very highly regulated process.
@SnoqualmiePass If only there was someway to notify drivers before they were stuck on the pass. Maybe an app, website, am radio broadcast or even over head signs.
@Mooglic@SnoqualmiePass I drove it in a Miata this morning. General Altimax Arctic 12 snow tires (no studs). Doing a reasonable speed I made it safely but did find a few "fun" sections of black ice.
@SnoqualmiePass How do eastbound passenger vehicles know when it is okay to use the MP56 chain off area or when they need to use the MP70 chain off area? Does westbound always use the MP47 chain off area, even when east bound is chains required from MP34?
@HummerJones @capang9555 @reckhauser@SnoqualmiePass Legally if chains are required on all but AWD/4WD a 2WD vehicles needs to chain up regardless of what tires you have.

Logically if AWD/4WD doesn't need chains a 2WD vehicle with winter tires shouldn't need chains.
@Iam_shocked@SnoqualmiePass@KING5Seattle Why do people with winter tires need to chain up when AWD doesn't? I passed a Subaru last night stuck on east bound I-90 about a mile after the chain up area.
Winter tires on a 2wd car do better than summer tires on AWD.
