@canarieschatt I think the seagull should have been taken off first. Had ample opportunities to stop the ball going out of play and failed 😨 🐓(no seagull emoji) 😜
@FFMikey999@VictoriaAtkins Someone is still farming that land whether contractors or tenants and it provides employment on a big scale as well as puts food on your table
@FFMikey999@Alex2Sips@VictoriaAtkins The majority came under the threshold. The massive rise in land values means more farms will be caught in this trap. Assets does not equal money in the bank. If you have to sell some of your land you have no viable business
@sebastiansalek That’s exactly where you’re wrong, it’s not money being passed on it’s assets. Assets are not money in the bank until you sell them. And if you sell them you pay capital gains tax. So even if the biggest estates are passed on the IHT can only be paid by selling, not farming it
@arthur_ascii@beckytandz These tractors are all owned by banks. But are essential tools of the trade. You don’t just go out and buy a new tractor with all that cash farmers stash under the mattress. Spend a day on a farm and see what it’s really like
@vaderbogger@RachelReevesMP@Jamie4North Also if land and assets have to be sold by inheriting family members to pay IHT they will also have to pay Capital Gains Tax won’t they? So a £1m tax bill means you not only need to sell £1m of farm but then you have a CGT bill of £400,000
@Keir_Starmer Terrible news for small businesses with small profit margins, no doubt will have to cut back on staff numbers. Also no good for my university son in the summer holidays putting up and taking down marquees for a small local business but puts that job in doubt as it’s zero hours
@implausibleblog Who was responsible for each postmaster being told they were the only ones having problems with Horizon? That’s what gets me. So the postmasters would think they must be in the wrong as nobody else had shortfalls when there were hundreds in the same boat.
@familyfirst50 She thought they were all faithful. She could have thought Jaz was trying to get rid of one of the three to increase the share of the prize, split between two instead of three. She wanted to split with Harry over Jaz.
@richardosman so I’ve just read The Man Who Died Twice (before the Thursday Murder Club, oops, but have ordered that) and I’ve cast French and Saunders as Joyce and Elizabeth. What do you think? Too young? But I think they could pull it off 🔫🩸🕵️ best thing I’ve read in ages btw
@fesshole I’m a Kathryn. I don’t mind being called Kath or even Ryn but not Kathy. My father in law has called me Kathy for 30 years and I’ve never had the heart to tell him I hate it
@NorfolkDragon @TheCellarHouse @OldRamNorfolk Great news! Please also sign up to #wymondhaminbloom as the hanging baskets at the pub have always been spectacular 🌺🌼🌸 can’t wait to visit when you reopen 🍻🥂
