@sebastiansalek That’s exactly where you’re wrong, it’s not money being passed on it’s assets. Assets are not money in the bank until you sell them. And if you sell them you pay capital gains tax. So even if the biggest estates are passed on the IHT can only be paid by selling, not farming it

@vaderbogger @RachelReevesMP @Jamie4North Also if land and assets have to be sold by inheriting family members to pay IHT they will also have to pay Capital Gains Tax won’t they? So a £1m tax bill means you not only need to sell £1m of farm but then you have a CGT bill of £400,000

@Keir_Starmer Terrible news for small businesses with small profit margins, no doubt will have to cut back on staff numbers. Also no good for my university son in the summer holidays putting up and taking down marquees for a small local business but puts that job in doubt as it’s zero hours
