Expropriation Act Court Case Day 3:

The President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa's legal team has started with their arguments in support of expropriation without compensation.

The President’s legal team argues that core Constitutional rights, such as the right to private property, should be subordinate to political aims, such as land redistribution.

There you have it. That's how far the President's commitment to private property rights goes: only as far as it does not stand in the ANC's way.

What is Adriaan Basson's salary? The public deserves insight into News24's financial statements. Given that it's the biggest news outlet in South Africa, we deserve to have as much access to its financial information as they publish of others.

It makes no sense for News24 to claim that the public has a right to financial statements of influential institutions in the public sphere, but then not to reveal its own finances to the same extent, given that News24 is indeed an influential institution in the public sphere.

.@WernerHuman18 has never received a cent in salary from @afriforum , nor does he earn more than R3 million at his current job at the Solidarity Movement. @News24 did not verify their false information with anyone before publishing it.

70% of AfriForum’s expenditure is dedicated to making AfriForum’s main aim and project possible: namely building strong, self-reliant local communities. It is therefore yet another false claim by News24 to suggest that we spend only a small portion on this.

These anti-AfriForum activists at News24 are so obsessed with attacking AfriForum that they have started making basic mistakes by failing to verify their facts. That is why News24 has had to apologise to AfriForum on various occasions for publishing false information about us.
