VAR needs to be taken out of our referees hands. They are simply too biased and incompetent to officiate fairly.

I know there are talks about VAR happening all the time but week after week it just highlights how poor Scottish referees are.

None are invited to major tournaments, none get to officiate high profile games in Europe or allowed to officiate in latter stages of the competitions. Does that not set alarm bells ringing for those in charge?

It’s classic Scottish mentality… just ignore the problem and blame those around us.

That being said I do think the majority of referees in this country are just shite at their job. The full system needs ripped up and redone from scratch.

Fans of 95% of the Scottish game are sick of the same shite every season.

The fact that John Beaton is still a referee after his cheating last season is ridiculous, that he compounded it by getting his photo taken with Celtic fans taking the piss out of what he did is even more so.

Meanwhile managers and players are being banned for calling it out.

The suggestion that SPFL referees will go on strike is the best news for Scottish football in quite some time. Quite a few, such as John Beaton, should have been suspended long ago- but the next best thing is a voluntary strike.

They can then be replaced by impartial officials & thereafter make their strike permanent.

The integrity of Scottish football would be far better for it.
