I’m really glad I had the chance to meet @barryjmurph, Chief Operating Officer of the @CWGC, and James King, the Area Director, during their visit to Egypt. It was great to connect with leaders so dedicated to the Commission’s important work.
The grave of Private Reginald Cadd, who died 5 May, 1945. He was 17 years old.
His personal inscription reads:
NOT A DAY
DO WE FORGET YOU,
IN OUR HEARTS
YOU ARE ALWAYS NEAR
Reginald now lies in our care in Berlin 1939-1945 War Cemetery, Germany.

Fascinating discussion about the role of commemoration as a tool of diplomacy and influence particularly in a era of shifting political alliances.
Director General @CWGC Claire Horton CBE emphasised the importance of partnerships and mentioned the #Punjab#WW1 registers digitisation project @UniofGreenwich@GavinRand@UKPHA UK Punjab Heritage Association as one example.
Great to catch-up with Dr George Hay @record_this, Simon Bendry @WW1_Education and @barryjmurph who we @UKPHA continue to collaborate with.

Together with @davidaloveridge, great to make a first @cwgc operational visit to Myanmar in over 5 years. Valuable training and discussion in Yangon. A lot clearly to do but lots to build upon with the exceptionally resilient and hardworking team based across the country.
After 3 years being responsible for the Pacific Region of the #CWGC, myself and @barryjmurph Barry Murphy will be inspecting 2 of our sites in Myanmar - Rangoon War and Taukkyan War Cemeteries for the 1st time since before COVID. Will be good to meet our staff from across Myanmar
It’s difficult to be an 8 acre hidden gem in Japan but Yokohama War Cemetery manages it. Wholly unique woodland setting on three levels. Thanks to Asako and her small @CWGC team who produce near perfection.
The Pacific Region team of the #CWGC completed a 3-day Health and Safety Training session this week in Kanchanaburi Thailand. Good participation by Regional staff, Country Managers and Site Managers from 7 countries across the Pacific. Lots learned about H&S & H&S Leadsership
Another chance to meet the #CWGC team in Thailand this week while we were conducting Health and Safety Audits of both Chung Kai and Kanchanaburi War Cemeteries. A Great team and both cemeteries beautiful as ever
Please to present service pins this week to two #CWGC staff from the Pacific. One year service pins presented by COO @barryjmurph to Health and Safety Advisor Si Thu Myint from Yangon Myanmar and to Site Manager Desy Makhmud from Ambon Indonesia. Well done to both!
As the world wars fades from living memory, partnerships like this ensures contributions of soldiers will continually be remembered.
I had the privilege of being a part of signing this MoU with NCAC Gambia.
The story keeps unfolding @CWGC
@marcrileydj Finally arrived today. Reckon this line up could have put out at least two albums in that time. Definitely worth the wait though and hope the first of many!
While spring in Austria remains elusive, an absolute pleasure to meet Albert who has been passionately tending @cwgc Klagenfurt War Cemetery for over 40 years. We have some remarkably dedicated people around the globe, thank you Albert!
