@batuhan beside the screen size, make sure you compare them on thermals. I love 14" form-factor, but it's being throttled very often (especially if you're going for Max)
@elonmusk please start doing Tesla Rentals - just like you do with test drives. I want to book in advance, land in Berlin, go to car park, open car with my phone, drive it where I need to, drop it off when done.
I'm really tired of dealing with traditional rental companies
Nice to see @Hetzner_Online reflected on the AX102 pricing - the original move felt like pure greed.
Even after the reduction, it still looks way overpriced.
AX102-1: 128GB RAM β β¬306/mo
AX102-2: 192GB ECC RAM β β¬651/mo
That's +β¬345/mo for +64GB RAM + ECC.
Retail value of the extra memory is roughly ~β¬1.1k for consumer DDR5, or maybe ~β¬1.5kββ¬1.7k+ depending on ECC sourcing (and I bet @Hetzner_Online doesn't pay prices I'd pay).
So the monthly uplift covers the actual extra memory cost in roughly 3β4 months. After that, customers are just paying the premium forever.
The real shame is the damage this has done to planning and trust for small companies.
I know of one company that already bought over Β£20k of hardware to replace 10x AX102s they had with Hetzner, and they'll likely move more / rest. It doesn't matter they kept the prices frozen for existing servers, companies want to grow (all companies) are now forced to buy overpriced products.
@Hetzner_Online has a very small window to get this right.
Once customers lose trust, buy hardware, migrate workloads, and rebuild infra elsewhere, many of them won't ever come back.

The whole WFH narrative only made sense in the pre-agent world.
I think it's absolutely ridiculous now.
Sure, have a big expensive office if you need that for your customers or your sales team to close big deals, but the idea that people who are managing 5+ concurrent agentic threads are more effective in an office is just a joke.
In fact, I'd argue that when it comes to revenue, one of the most important things is that your sales folks are out of the office hosting dinners and networking, and they should be in the office 0% of the time.
This is coming from a guy who has raised kids and has worked both in the office and from home over the last 25 years.
@dhh@mysticaltech Sad to see this. I expected price rises, but not a 5x jump in a year: AX102 went from just over β¬100/month to nearly β¬550/month.
Just as the industry was building momentum around leaving hyperscalers, this kind of hike risks slapping that momentum right back down.
I've used and recommended @Hetzner_Online for nearly 20 years. The recent (quiet) price hikes including AX102 jump from ~β¬104/mo to ~β¬544/mo feels difficult to justify, even with higher hardware costs. Would be good to see clearer context behind such a major pricing change
Back-to-office strats are stupid in the age of agents.
Why?
Every communication needs to be context-able for the companyβs brain.
Not possible if a bunch of conversations are chats in the hallway.
I donβt care if you say βno! Human connection is so important!β
Not any more in the age of agents.
Not if you want your company to thrive/survive today.
Sorry not sorry :)
@thorstenball Give credit where credit is due.
